We had fried fish for dinner. Dessert was an upside down fruit cake.
It was card bingo night. I suggested that Gerry join us. Her daughter didn't think that she would want to play, but she did. I went ahead with mom and Donna to save a place for Gerry. When we got there, it was packed so I asked that another table be set up for Donna, mom and Gerry.
Gerry arrived 15 minutes late because she had trouble getting assistance to go to the washroom.
Gerry's daughter had to leave early, so I pushed Gerry's wheelchair back to the room after the activity. I think the ladies had a good time together.

Good Friday
Friday, March 25, 2016
Dropped by to see mom around 2:30. Mom and Donna were having yogurt and banana in the cafeteria. Soon, coffee and cake appeared. They feed the clients well here. Mom and Donna had hot turkey sandwiches with gravy for lunch. They seem to have enjoyed that.
Because the sun was shining, I decided to take mom outside for a walk. Donna said she would rest so that mom and I could spend some time together. Mom objected to putting her winter coat on, but I didn't want her to get cold. I couldn't remember the code to open the gate to go to the park so we just walked around the nursing home grounds. Mom was anxious about getting lost. We couldn't go back in the way we came, but I was able to the find another way in. Mom was relieved to get back to her room.
I brought mom a baby orchid and a box of chocolates.
She loved the orchid and the box of chocolates.
She shared the chocolates with her roommates, Donna and Gerry. She insisted they take 3 a piece. All the ladies were happy.

Telephone
Sunday, February 28, 2016
Today, I dropped off the telephone.
It was so cute. Donna and my mom were sitting in front of the fish tank with their feet up on Donna's walker. The were both smiling and laughing at the fish.

Dropped by with Ethel to bring in more clothes. Mom and Donna were having a snack in the cafeteria. They joined us in mom's room. I brought a stuffed cat for mom and she was very happy.
Donna brought her big black and white stuffed cat and her stuffed tiger to show us. I wish I could have taken a photo. It was so cute.

Dinner with mom
Friday, February 26, 2016
Had dinner with mom. Mom wouldn't eat until my dinner came.
We had "barbecued ribs." It was actually ground pork shaped into ribs with bbq sauce. A little salty, but not bad. Mom ate it all. She didn't have the cake for dessert, but she shared an orange with me.
There was a horse racing activity after dinner. At first she didn't want to join, but she sat beside Donna and was soon waving goodbye to me.
At dinner we talked about Peter, the cat. He is the resident cat.

Things are getting better
Thursday, February 25th, 2016
Mom woke up a couple of times in the night and visited the nursing station.
She spent a lot of time with Donna, her roommate.
She was starting to take part in activities.
My friend and I visited around 8:00 p.m.
I was apprehensive, but mom was calm and happy to see us.
She let me hug her.
I was worried she would still be angry.
We went through her photobook with her.
She interacted with us and was alert.
We hugged when I left and she insisted that I saw good-bye to her roommate.
I felt relieved.

The Morning After
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
They told me that mom cried after I left yesterday.
She slept well during the night.
She ate breakfast and was walking with Donna, her roommate.
She was quiet.
