A long day

Saturday, March 16, 2019
I arrived in time for lunch.  The whole gang was there.  Edward was talkative.  He showed us a photo of when he was younger  (full head of hair - toupee?) standing in front of a Winnebago.  He told us that he had travelled to Texas and other southern states.  He said that he was away for 2 months.
Mom ate very little.  She ate almost none of her pureed carrots. ground beef and gravy and pureed peach.  She drank all of her beverages.
After lunch, I went to toilet her.  She wanted to go and seemed to want to cooperate, but she was having trouble standing.  I went to get help.  Bad idea.
First one lady came, but was unable to get mom to stand.  The second aide came with the lifter, but she was rough and mom was not cooperating.  I asked the aide repeatedly what mom was supposed, to do, but she seemed to think that mom knew and was just giving her a hard time.  I tried to explain to her that mom had Alzheimer's.  Sometimes she knew how to do things and sometimes she didn't.  I told her that I would do it myself.
I had to be very patient, but finally mom stood up and I was able to get her on the toilet.  I was able to remove her pants and diaper.  Her diaper was relatively clean, but there was a little blood which I reported.
Mom pooped in the toilet!  Hurray!  However, she insisted on using her fingers to squeeze it out.  I wrapped her hands in lots of toilet paper.  Eventually, she was done.  I was just happy she pooped in the toilet.  I wiped her bum.  I used several small towels soaked in warm water and wrung out.  She was quite cooperative.  I was able to put the diaper on her without much fuss.  And back into the wheelchair.
I took mom for a walk outside.  We went to the dog park.  Mom wasn't very impressed.  She cried out each time we went over a bump.
At dinner time, Jacquie wasn't there.  Edward's granddaughter was visiting.  Lucy sat in Jacquie's chair.  My cutlery was missing.  Edward's granddaughter talked a lot.  She is a ballet instructor.  She said that her grandmother died young (68).  Edward remarried, but the 2nd wife was a gold digger.  The second wife has apparently taken all of Edward's assets and abandoned him.
I was jealous because they offered the daughter a complimentary dinner.
Long after everyone had left, mom finally started eating.  She ate half of her pureed peas and carrots, all of her pureed peaches, Boost and apple juice.  She was quite talkative.  She liked Edward's daughter too.
There is a large woman at the facility and her son and grandson come to visit.  They are all huge.  Mom remarked on this several times.
I took mom to the toilet after dinner, but she didn't want to get up from the wheelchair.  I gave up and took her to sit by the nurses' station.  Donna was put to bed early, right after dinner.
