Mom has a poop

Sunday, March 10, 2019
Mom was kind of dopey.  She kept nodding off to sleep.
Donna is sick.  She has a lot of phlegm.
She is having trouble feeding herself, but she is so good-natured.  She doesn't complain or make a fuss.
Mom ate a bit and then decided that she didn't want to eat.  I kind of bribe her with apple juice.  She takes a sip surreptitiously and then I am able to put some food in her mouth.  I alternate between sips of Boost and pureed carrot.  Today is ham and she likes the pureed ham, but she still eats very little.  She never eats pureed fish or chicken.  It tastes gross.  She eats most of her pureed peach and all of her beverages.  But, she protests a lot.
I put her food on a tray and fed her in the fish tank room.  The television is loud and there are a lot of people.  Jacquie didn't join us for dinner today.  A lot of people seem sick and are coughing.
Mom seems so old and decrepit.  Even Edward seems more robust now.  He hardly eats anything, but at least he seems to eat at every meal.
I was able to toilet mom today.  She had a bowel movement.
I wheeled her right to the toilet.  It took a while to get her to stand and remove her pants.  She kept trying to pull them back up.  She had poop in her diaper.  I was able to remove her poopy diaper and to get her to sit on the toilet.  She pooped in the toilet.  I cleaned her up.  She had a lot of poop smeared around her lower extremities.  I had to get her to stand to clean up the front areas and put on her diaper.  She must have been tired because I took a long time.  I got her to walk back to the wheelchair.  She wanted to go to bed, but I took her back to her chair and she barely made it.
I wanted to wash her hands.  She wouldn't sit forward in her wheelchair so I had to use a towel.  She had brown stuff smeared on her fingernails around the edges and under her nails.  I don't think this happened on my watch. I cleaned her up as best I could with the cloth.  I wiped her face and around her mouth.  I wanted to brush her teeth, but she put up such a fuss.
I changed mom's sheet because it looked like there was poop on it.
Out in the hallway, I could hear Lorne singing "Home on the Range" and "Hallelujah."  I took mom out to the hallway and he was singing "You are My Sunshine" in Ukranian.
