Chris called to say he was sick.
Mom was sitting with Donna and Edward when I arrived. Jacquie arrived shortly after. I got mom some bubble wrap to play with. Mom and I were served much later than everyone. Mom wouldn't eat anything. She ate maybe one spoonful of carrots and peas and less than that of pureed peaches. Jacquie said yesterday no one was feeding her and miraculously she fed herself. She said they had spaghetti. I must admit the pureed spaghetti sauce is pretty good and mom must have been hungry.
Almost everyone had left the dining room. I decided to massage mom's legs. Mom said that she had pain and pointed to her crotch. I took that to mean she wanted to use the toilet. It took a bit of coaxing, but I got her out of the wheelchair and into the washroom. In the washroom, she refused to pull down her pants and sit on the toilet. I brought her back to her wheelchair, but then she said she wanted to go to the washroom. This time she let me pull down her pants and seat her on the toilet, but nothing happened except a fart. Her diaper was clean and she was clean, but her diaper was a bit askew so I fixed it.
There was a towel in the sink. I assumed it was clean, but there was blood on it. Yuck! There wasn't a laundry cart nearby so I just put it on the floor. I cleaned the sink out with disinfectant.
I took mom back to the dining room, but the table had already been cleared. The half a banana was left behind.
I went back to the room to get mom's photo book and saw a mouse run from mom's closet to the utility closet by the sink. It was fast. I reported it to the nurses' station, but she said she belonged to a different ward. I reported it to the care aide who was getting Joan ready for bed and she said there was nothing she could do about it. They were everywhere.
I went to collect mom from the dining room. We went to the lobby and I put her feet up on a chair and massaged her calves. We looked at her photo book. She didn't recognize herself. I had to tell her several times and then she smiled.
I tried to feed mom the banana. Mom ate very little of it. I gave her some water too, but she drank very little.
We went back to her room. I put her in the wheelchair and sat her with Barbara at the nurses' station. Donna had been left by her bed. I asked her if she was cold and she replied in the affirmative. Her legs were bare. I put a blanket on her and she was grateful.
