Wednesday Card Bingo

Wednesday, May 23, 2018
Mom, Donna and Jacquie were already seated when I arrived.  Edward was just on his way.
Mom ate half her food by herself and I helped her with the other half.
She has a bit of a cough.  She didn't get dessert today.
We shared an orange.  I cut off most of the rind and membrane, but she still continued to chew on the fibre.  I just took the fibrous bits out of her mouth.
I took mom back to the room and toileted her, brushed her teeth, wiped her face, etc.
Her hair didn't look too clean, but I assume it was washed on Tuesday.
We played card bingo: Michael, Donna, Shanta, mom, me and Chris joined us later.
Chris thinks mom lost a tooth as well.
After card bingo we took Donna and mom back to their room.

Donna has no trousers

Monday, May 21, 2018
When I arrived, Donna was in the fish tank room.  She was not happy.  The care aide told me that mom was being toileted.  She showed up a few minutes later.  A care aide took Donna to the dining room and I took mom.  Donna had no trousers and she couldn't understand why.  I talked to the care aides and apparently she has gained so much weight that many of her clothes do not fit her.  On top of that she had soiled her clothing and nothing had come back from the laundry.  I told Donna to tell her sister that she needed new clothes.
Edward looked very dapper today.  He was wearing a hat and tie.  He brought out some brochures and asked if a tip was necessary.  I told him that he didn't need any money.  He said that he was going to get a job and buy a new car.  He also said that he was 98 years old and that he was having a birthday in July.
After dinner I took mom back to the room to toilet her, brush her teeth, wash her face, etc.  I think she lost a tooth.
The care aide said that Donna had gained too much weight so they were trying to limit her food intake.  They didn't want her to have hot cocoa.  The care aide changed Donna's diaper and put her to bed.
We played card bingo with Michael, Shanta, mom and me.  Joe eventually joined us.  He was being toileted and it took a long time for the care aide to come and help him.

Shanta is mom's neighbour across the hall.

Everyone was seated when I arrived.  An aide was feeding mom.
Mom ate really well.  She cleared her plate.
She peeled an orange quarter and put the whole thing in her mouth.  She had some difficulty chewing it, but finally she chewed and swallowed the whole wad.
I really enjoyed my dinner.  It was breaded fish with potatoes and broccoli.  Dessert was ice-cream.  Mom didn't like it as much as I thought she would.
I left Donna at the card bingo table.  Ming is away on vacation so there was a different lady.
I took mom back to the room to toilet her, etc.
We played card bingo.  Mom was mad because she wasn't winning, but she took it out on me.  She said some unkind things.  Finally mom won a bag of Cheetohs.
She shared it with Donna.  Donna won two bags of potato chips, but she wanted me to take them to her room.  Zorka thought I was mom's sister.
Shanta is now in a room across from mom and Donna.

Mother's Day

Sunday, May 13, 2018
I arrive just as they had started serving morning coffee.
I let mom socialize and sip her tea for a bit before I took her away.
I toileted her.  She took a pee and a poop.  Brushed her hair, washed her face, brushed her teeth, etc.
We did some more colouring in her colouring book.
A nurse came to listen to mom's chest.  She was worried mom had too much mucous, but it seems her lungs are still clear.  Nevertheless, the doctor recommended giving her antibiotics.
Most has a really phlegmy cough.
We met Ethel at the entrance.
We had lunch together: Ethel, mom, Donna and me.
Mom had her usualy pureed food:  mashed potatoes and gravy, green puree, egg whites and some kind of soup.  Mom just played with her spoon and soup in a cup.  She drank some of her Ensure or Boost.  She ate the custard dessert by herself.  All of it.
Mom kept remarking about a plastic green decoration on the table.
Ethel brought stuffed giraffes for Donna and mom.  They seemed to like them.
We had pancakes with strawberry sauce and turkey sausages and custard for dessert.
Mom ate most of her food.
We took mom and Donna outside for a little walk and took a photo of them with their stuffies.
I left Donna in the fish tank room.  We took mom back to the room and I toileted her.  I had to change her diaper.  She did some more poop and pee.
Ethel and mom went through mom's photo book.
I took mom to arm class.
Ethel went home.
After arm class, I toileted mom and brushed her teeth.  I let mom sleep for a bit.  She sang to herself before she fell asleep.
Then I started a game of card bingo.  Zorka played with us until some friends came to visit her.
Shanta didn't show up until near the end of the last game.
I left mom and Donna at arm class.

Hymn sing-a-long

Saturday, May 12, 2018
Haven't seen mom for 12 days.  When I got there, Donna was watching a movie with the group.  The staff person said that mom was in the Fraser Room.  Mom recognized me and smiled.  I was so relieved.  I was worried that she would forget me.  She didn't want to get out of her chair, but I coaxed her and took her to the washroom.  Her diaper was clean.
There was a lot of laundry in mom's hamper.  The clothes smelt like pee.
I combed mom's hair, wiped her face, brushed her teeth.  She seemed to be missing a tooth.  I should check on that.  I gave her about 1/2 a cup of water to drink.
We did some colouring in her colouring book.  We haven't done that for a long time.  Mom seemed to enjoy it.  She couldn't really colour, but she drew lines with her crayon.  She was happy with the result.  She had a very phlegmy cough, but she didn't spit out the phlegm.  When I gave her a tissue, she patted her nose and then patted her face.
We went through her photo book.  She enjoyed it very much.
Then I toileted her again.  This time she took a pee and a poo.
I took her to the dining room because it was 4:30 p.m. and close to dinner time.  There was hymn singing going on.  I took mom over to join the group.  Mom made Japanese sound effects to go with the music.  I think she enjoyed the music.  The pastor gave everyone a carnation for Mother's Day.  Mom was really pleased.  Jacquie was really into the singing.  I was surprised to see William up there singing.
We joined Donna at the dining table.  Edward soon joined us. I took mom and Donna's carnations back to their room and put the stems in cups and propped each carnation against a wall.  I encouraged mom to drink her tea black.  She was sipping it and kept trying to share it with me.  I hope the hot tea helped with her congestion.
Mom had her nails painted a light pink.  Donna had her nails painted a dark cherry red.
Mom admired the carnations on the table.
It was teriyaki chicken. I cut up Donna's chicken for her.  I left before mom's meal was served.
