New Year's Eve

Sunday, December 31, 2017
Met Jacquie on the bus to St. Michael's.
Dinner was sweet and sour pork, rice and beans. Mom hardly ate anything.  However she did drink my milk and eat some of my fruit cocktail.  The fruit cocktail was delicious.
Changed mom's diaper, brushed her teeth, watered her plant.  There were 4 pairs of pants in mom's laundry basket.
I gave mom a clementine to eat.
Then we opened up Aunti Sumi's gift.  I had to help mom unwrap it.  She seemed happy.  She liked the pictures in the calendar.
We played card bingo.  Michael brought chocolates instead of Monopoly money.
After cards, I sat mom with George and another lady who wears hats and hums.
Joan asked about Barbara.  She couldn't remember her name, but she asked about her.  I said that she would be coming back after the holidays.  I hope so.  Joan probably misses her.

Saturday 30 December 2017

Joan joined us for card bingo

Saturday, December 30, 2017
Jacquie and I saw each other as I came in.  She was going down the elevator for a smoke outside.  She said that Donna had come back.  Thank heavens!
Mom, Donna and Edward were just finishing up dinner.
It was butter chicken, peas and rice.  Dessert was a lemon tart.
I took mom to the bathroom and she took a pee.  I changed her diaper and wiped her bum.
Her hair was not so tangled.  I helped her brush her teeth.  I wiped her face with a towel.
Donna brushed her teeth too.  I hope they brush their teeth again after hot cocoa and a cookie.
We played card bingo.  Joan joined us.  Her vision is not so good.  Her hearing is worse.  She was able to play with a lot of help.
After card bingo we went to the fish tank room for hot cocoa.  I stayed a bit longer.  Joan joined us for hot cocoa and a cookie.  Mom was concerned about the bubbles on the inside of her mug.

Wednesday 27 December 2017

Donna is in the hospital

Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017
I met Jacquie as I came in.  She was waiting for Rudy.  She told me that Donna had fallen and gone to the hospital.  Mom was sitting at the dinner table with Edward.  I asked her several times if she had to go to the washroom, but she said she was fine.
Dinner was a pork roast with gravy, potato wedges and Italian veggies.  Dessert was apple crips.  Yum!  Mom ate everything including half an orange.  She had a healthy appetite.  I explained that Donna was in the hospital, but mom seemed clueless.
After dinner, I took mom to the toilet and she did a poop and pee.  I didn't have to change her diaper.
We played cards.  I asked Lorne to join us, but he declined.
I was going to put the head set on mom, but it was malfunctioning.  I will have to get her a new one.
I brushed mom's teeth and took her for another pee.
We brought some tangerines to Ailene and she was happy.  She had a yellow tape across her door, but she said she wasn't under quarantine.
I left mom with Anka, Joe, George and Lorne.

Tuesday 26 December 2017

Boxing Day

Tuesday, December 26th, 2017
Mom and Donna were sitting at the nurses' station when I arrived around 2:20.  I took them to the cafeteria for coffee.  I pushed Anka and mom pushed Donna.  We sat and sang Silent Night together.  It was nice.  Anka's daughter and grandchildren came to visit and they took her away to be with them.
There was a lady sitting by herself so I told the aide that she could sit with us.  Shanta didn't want to join us, but she waved me over to give me her Digestive biscuits.
Edward came to join us.  Mom didn't like the lady sitting across from her.  She kept mentioning that she was not right.  Mom finished all her tea and asked for more.  The tea lady had already disappeared into the kitchen so I gave mom what was left of my tea and she sipped it.
When she had finished I took her back to the room to brush her teeth and change her diaper.  There were no plastic bags to put the dirty diaper in so I just left it under the sink.  Mom had a pee and a poop.  We ran into Donna on the way back to the dining room.  Donna said she wanted to stay at the nurses' station so I sat her with mom and said good-bye.

Monday 25 December 2017

Christmas lunch

Monday, December 25, 2017
Mom and Donna were seated in the dining room.  I took mom to the washroom.  We made it.  I still changed mom's diaper.  We had chicken soup, spaghetti with meat sauce and salad. Dessert was fruit cocktail.  After lunch we went back to the room.  I tidied up mom's closet.  Mom and I took a nap.  Donna wanted to use the toilet, but I don't know if she ever got any help.  Mom and I went to play card bingo.  About half way through I went to find Donna.  She was in the hallway.  She said she had fallen asleep.  We sat and chatted a bit after our card game.  We talked about New Year's, travel to the Caribbean, Barbados, card games, etc.
We had a little break and went back to the room.   Mom used the toilet.
We had coffee with Lorne.  Mom was singing by herself.  I got her to sing Silent Night and Lorne joined in.  He is a very good singer.  He said he played the violin for 15 years.  He said he was waiting for his son-in-law to pick him up and take him for dinner.  His daughter and grandson showed up too.  They said they would take him out for dinner tomorrow.  They had already had the Christmas dinner on Christmas eve.  They brought their dog with them.  It was a miniature golden doodle.  So cute!  So soft!
My chocolate cookie that I got for coffee was really hard, so I had to soften it in my tea, but it was good.

Sunday 24 December 2017

Poo poo in the pocket

Sunday, December 24th, 2017
Mom and Donna were already seated when I arrived.
I went to drop off my things, check on mom's dying poinsettia, check her toothpaste cap (mine didn't work), put up photo, check laundry hamper, wipe down toilet, etc.
I asked mom if she wanted to go to the washroom.  She responded in the affirmative.  I quickly took her to the visitor's washroom because it is the closest.  Unfortunately she had already soiled her diaper.  I removed her diaper and told her to wait.  Hah!  I rushed to get a diaper and cleaning cloth.  When I arrived, mom had already taken care of things.  I wiped her bum and washed her hands and then took her back to the room to change her diaper and comb her hair.
We got back for dinner.  Salmon, rice and beans.  Lemon meringue pie.  Mom's nose was running so I went to find a tissue.  I looked in her pockets.  I found a paper towel wrapped around toilet paper with poop!  I threw them in the garbage.  You can't take your eyes off her for one second in the bathroom.
Lots of times after she wipes herself with the toilet paper she doesn't know what to do with the soiled tissue.
After dinner I dropped Donna off at the nurses' station.  I brought mom back to the room and brushed her teeth.  We looked at her photo book together and sang some songs.
Then, we went to pick up Donna and go and play cards.  It was fun.  Donna wanted to leave.  I think because she was sitting in a poopy diaper.  She asked me to drop her off at the nurses' station.  I got Irma to take Donna's place.  I think she had fun.
Then, I took mom back to be with Donna and got my coat and things.  Michael went to go and feed the raccoons. Michael was sitting with the girls when I arrived.  He told me that he had put back the table things.  I had totally forgotten.  It was thoughtful of him.
I sat with the girls for a bit and sang some Christmas carols.

Saturday 23 December 2017

Singing

Saturday, December 23, 2017
Mom was sitting at a table in the fish tank room with Donna, Anka, Joan and another lady.
I took mom to the washroom and she took a pee.  Her diaper was clean and hair was not so messy.  The cap is still missing from her toothpaste.  I should probably just give her mine.
I threw out Donna's poinsettia.  I didn't tell her.  I hope she just forgets about it.  Mom's is bad, but is still hanging by a thread.
We went through mom's photo book.  She was responsive and happy.  She was confused about who dad was.  We sang some songs together.  I really have to get the words to some of these Japanese songs.  Then we went to sit with the other ladies and sing Christmas carols.  One lady's shoe fell off so I put it back on for her and she was happy.

Wednesday 20 December 2017

Poinsettias are dying

Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017
Dinner hadn't been served yet when I arrived.  I quickly went to mom's room to water the dying poinsettias, check her laundry, etc.
We had chicken and veggie stir fry with rice.  Dessert was a sour cherry tart.  Mom ate most of her food.  She ate her orange quarters.
We pushed Donna back to the room.  I took mom to the toilet.  She took a poop.  I changed her diaper and cleaned her bum.  The cold water tap was working although it was backwards.  I brushed her teeth. The toothpaste was kind of hard, because she has the wrong cap so it falls off.  I hope mom is getting her teeth brushed.
We went to play cards.  It was fun.
Later someone came to get Donna.  I took mom to sit by the nurses' station and we sang a song.  Yuyakekoyake.  I'll have to learn the words.

Monday 18 December 2017

Inari sushi

Sunday, December 17, 2017
Mom hadn't eaten much of her dinner.  It was my favourite: Greek chicken.
I was getting mom to push Donna's wheelchair back to the room.
Michael spotted us and asked if we were going to play card bingo to which I responded in the affirmative.
Poinsettias are still looking poorly.  I combed mom's hair.  I took her to the washroom and she did a small poop.  I changed her diaper.
I shared my inari sushi with mom.  We ate her leftover orange from dinner.
We played cards in the dining room.  It's the quietest place.
We had fun as usual.

Sunday 17 December 2017

Happy Hour

Friday, Dec. 15, 2017
Dropped in for Happy Hour.  Jacquie was singing Christmas carols with the activities leader.  She waved me in to join them.  We sang Christmas carols.  Then Santos brought a CD with Colombian music and we danced.  Santos got up from his wheelchair.  He explained that he was going to pull me towards him and I was supposed to walk past and then I would walk towards him and he would push me away.  It was interesting.  Jacquie was spinning around in her wheelchair.  I got mom to stand up and dance.  I twirled her around.  At first she was having fun, but then she became self-conscious.  One of the guys at her table told her she was a good dancer.
I had a glass of red wine and some munchies.  Later, I took the ladies back to the room to freshen up.  I checked the ladies' poinsettias.  They are looking rough.
Then I left them at the nurses' station.

Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017
I arrived in time for dinner.  Mom was upset because Donna was preventing her from eating her brownie first.  In the end, mom did not eat her brownie.
Pork with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and italian veggies.  Dessert was a delicious brownie.  I took mom to the visitor's washroom.  We made it.  Her diaper was clean.
I combed mom's hair.  It wasn't so matted today.  I checked her poinsettia.  Still not so good.
I put the headset on her and we walked around.  Mom seemed happy.  I brought the red fleece vest from Eva.  I think mom liked it.
We went to play cards.  Joe had the television in the fish tank room much too loud.
We had fun.  Michael said there was nothing interesting on the television tonight.

Sunday 10 December 2017

Made it

Sunday, December 10, 2017
Mom and Donna were just leaving the table when I arrived.  When we got to the room, I asked mom if she had to go to the washroom.  Yes!  She made it.  She even did a generous amount of poop.  I haven't seen those bum cleaning cloths in a while.  I wonder if they are supposed to use the towel.  Mom wasn't wearing any diapers.  She always tells me she doesn't need one.  I changed mom's t-shirt and pants too.  She had a stain down the front, but it could be it was there before.  Her hair was quite matted at the back.  She had brought back her orange sections from dinner so I ate them.
I brought out the photos I took from last time with Mom, Donna and Anka.  I put them on the bulletin boards.  The poinsettias are starting to look a little rough from neglect.
Then we went to play card bingo.  I rounded up the usual group and we had a good time.  After the game one of the aides took our photo by the Christmas tree.  I sat everyone around the round table in the fish tank room.  Anka joined us.  I gave her the photo and she was very pleased.

Saturday 9 December 2017

Near miss

Saturday, December 9, 2017
Mom was lost when I arrived.  She was stressed.  I took her to the bathroom, but it was too late.  She has trouble sitting on the toilet seat.  She doesn't pull her pants and diaper down far enough.  She peed on the toilet seat and some of it spilled onto the floor.  I cleaned up the spill, changed her diaper, etc.  At least it wasn't poop.  I combed mom's hair.  I let her listen to some Japanese music.  Then, we were ready to go and play cards.  We met Donna on the way to the dining room.  She said she was tired and wanted to go back to the room.  She didn't make it to the toilet either.
I went and set up for card bingo and gathered up Michael and Shanta.  Then I went to go an collect Donna because I thought she had probably changed her mind.  We played card bingo as usual and had fun.  Michael remembered my name.
I was so hungry that I ate a cookie (the one from Thursday) that I found in her underwear drawer.  And I ate her banana from dinner.

Thursday 7 December 2017

New toothbrush and label

Wednesday, December 7, 2017
Everyone was already seated for dinner when I arrived.  Mom wanted to go to the toilet so I took her.  I wiped down the toilet and thought she could use the toilet on her own. I usually put the cloth in the waste paper basket, but I put it in the toilet.  Mom wanted me to flush the toilet.  She doesn't like to see anything in the toilet.  I was having a hot flash so I just wanted to remove my coat, scarf, etc. and put my bags in the closet.  When I got back to mom, she was sitting on the toilet.  I went to get the cleaning cloths, but there weren't any.  Meanwhile, mom had already pulled up her pants.
I had her pull her pants down so I could check her diaper.  It looked clean, but she said it was wet so I went to get a fresh diaper.  Turned out she probably hadn't pulled her pants down properly or sat on the toilet properly so that pee came down the front of the toilet and she peed a bit on her diaper.  I changed her diaper, her trousers and wiped up the toilet seat.
Then we went back to dinner.  Jacquie had already finished and went to talk to Joe.  Judy already knew that Chemsemble wasn't coming.  She knew about the mix-up and said that she had pulled for us.  Mom finished everything on her plate.  We had meatloaf, broccoli and mashed potatoes with gravy.  She didn't eat the dessert which was a custard.
Chris didn't come today because he was sick.
Donna went back to the room on her own because mom and I were still eating.
We caught up with her in the fish tank room because she said she was chatting with someone and got distracted.  We pushed Donna back to the room.
I combed mom's hair, brushed her teeth, wiped her face with a face cloth, watered her plant, etc.  I went to the nurses' station to borrow a marker to write mom's name on her new tooth brush.  This aide gave me a label.  Who knew?  I'll have to remember to bring more toothbrushes.
I took mom and Donna to the dining room to play cards with Michael and Shanta.  We have fun.  Mom keeps saying " I don't know what to do" or "I'm not good at this."  I hope I am not giving her too much stress.  I keep reassuring her saying " I will help you."  She's happy when she wins.

Sunday 3 December 2017

Mom's toothbrush is missing again

Sunday, December 3, 2017
Everybody was seated for dinner when I arrived: mom, Donna, Edward and Jacquie.  Mom said she wasn't hungry so I thought maybe she had to go to the bathroom, but she said she was fine.  We had a pork cutlet with sauerkraut, Italian vegetables, mashed potatoes and a Boston Cream Pie.  Mom just ate a few pieces of orange.  She drank all her milk.
After dinner I got mom to push Donna in her wheelchair to the nurses' station.  I took mom to the washroom.  Her diaper was clean.  She took a pee.  I combed her hair and brushed her teeth.  We went through her photo book.  She was engaged and enjoying the activity.  I brought mom to join Donna and then I went to set up for card bingo.  I rounded up the usual group:  Michael, Shanta Donna and mom.
After cards, Michael went to watch television.  He said he was going to watch Columbo at 8:00 p.m.  I took Shanta back to Alan.  I took mom and Donna back to the nurses' station. I hugged everyone good-bye.

Christmas decorations

Saturday, December 3, 2017
Mom and Donna were having coffee with Betty when I arrived.  I missed coffee.  Mom was trying to explain that there had been a cake as well.  Betty wasn't sure whether or not she had a coffee.  I sniffed hers and it was definitely a coffee.  I shared mom's milk tea.  It was sweet.  Donna asked me several times about the traffic.
I took mom and Donna back to the room.  Mom wanted to use the toilet.  She had peed in her diaper.  She was touching it and complaining.  I changed it for her.  She had a bowel movement in the toilet.  Hurray!  I had to comb her hair because it was quite matted at the back.
I helped Barbara with her Christmas decorations.  She had a tree up.
Then mom and Donna and I went for a walk around to look at Christmas decorations.
I brought Donna back to the nurses' station.  I put the headsets on mom and took her for a walk to the lobby so that she could sing.  She seemed happy.
When we got back to the dining room, Donna was already seated.

Wednesday 29 November 2017

What's your son's name?

Wednesday, November 29, 2017
Mom was standing at the table.  She wouldn't sit down.  I asked her if she had to use the toilet.  Bingo!  We rushed, but I think she had already pooped.  I changed her diaper and cleaned her up.  She always wants to remove her own diaper, but she tries to touch the poop.  She even tries to clean the toilet.  Gross!
We had Shepherd's pie.  Chris' favourite.  And cheesecake with blueberry sauce.  Mom ate all of the Shepherd's pie but she didn't touch the broccoli. I took Donna back to the room, but she seemed bored so I took her back to the nurses' station to sit with Anka.  Mom didn't want to look at her book or listen to her Japanese music so I took her for a walk.  They had decorated for Christmas so I took photos of mom beside the trees.  She quickly became tired of this.
Chris arrived and ate his dinner.  I gathered the girls and Michael and we played card bingo.  I videotaped some of the action and then I got Chris to videotape as well.
When we were leaving, Michael asked me what my son's name was:(

Monday 27 November 2017

New card player

Monday, November 27, 2017
Mom, Donna and Edward were already seated when I arrived.  Today we had oven fried chicken, broccoli and oven baked potatoes.  Dessert was a black forest cake.  Mom ate the chicken and potatoes, but she didn't touch the broccoli.  She ate half and orange.  She gets food stuck in her teeth and tries to remove it.  I hope that I am successful with the toothbrush.
After dinner I took mom back to the room to use the washroom.  She was clean.  She did one little ball of poop.  Donna asked to use the washroom too.  This time the care aide did change her.  The guys tend to be better than the female aides.
I put the headset on mom and took her for a walk.  Then she just sat and sang along to the music.  Finally we sang a song together.
We played card bingo with the usual group.  Jack joined us.  Joe said he wasn't feeling well. He has a British accent and he seems to be a shit disturber.  Yesterday Joe was yelling at him.  Today Jack was yelling at the care aide.
When I was saying good-bye to mom and Donna, Jack asked for a hug too.  So, I obliged.

Sunday 26 November 2017

Football

Sunday, November 26, 2017
Mom and Donna were already seated at the table when arrived.  Mom mentioned something about going to the bathroom.  We barely made it.  She soiled her diaper slightly, but mostly we were successful.  I changed mom's diaper and we went back for dinner.  We had macaroni and beef casserole, mixed veggies and banana cream pie for dessert.  Edward liked the macaroni and beef casserole.  Jacquie didn't show up.
After dinner mom wheeled Donna to the nurses' station.  I took mom back to the room for another pee and then I put the headset on her and we went for a walk.  After a few minutes she said she was tired so we just sat and she sang along to her music.  I brushed mom's teeth and washed her face.  I put some Vaseline on her face because it was dry.
Michael and Joe were watching football so they didn't want to play cards.  It was just the ladies: mom, Donna, Shanta and me.  They missed Michael.
After cards, mom pushed Donna back to the room.  Donna immediately went to the toilet, but the care aide made her wait.  Mom wanted to walk me out.  I made her wait at the nurses' station because I wanted to drop something off for Jacquie.  When I was walking back I noticed mom had wandered off to the fish tank room.  She was anxious.  She was lost.  I retrieved her and took her back to the room.  This time she said good-bye and went directly to her bed.

Saturday 25 November 2017

Poopie diaper

Saturday, November 25, 2017
Mom and Donna were seated at the table when I arrived.  I asked mom if she had to go to the toilet, but she said she was fine.  I went to drop off my things.  I also wiped down the toilet just in case we needed it.  There was poop on the seat.
Meanwhile, Edward had joined the table and Jacquie too.  I went to use the toilet and get a tea.  When I got back we were chatting.  All of a sudden, mom got grouchy.  I suspected she had to go to the toilet.  This time she answered in the affirmative when I asked her.
We ran to the toilet.  It was too late.  Mom had diarrhea.  She had already pooped in her pants.  She was upset.  I had a hard time keeping her hands away from the diaper.  After I removed the diaper, I noticed that there was poop on her trousers.  I had to take off her shoes and remove her trousers.  I was worried she might have gotten poop on her shirt and wool sweater too.  Luckily the gray wool sweater seemed fine.  There were a few flecks on poop on her shirt.  The poop wasn't too smelly.  I cleaned mom up the best I could.  She wasn't very cooperative.  She said she was clean and didn't understand why I had to wipe her down.  I put a clean pair of diapers on her, put her dirty clothes in the laundry and wiped the toilet down. I shut the door to the room and opened the bathroom door to shield her as she ran to her bed.  I got a pair of trousers for her to put on.
We went back for dinner.  Mom didn't eat very much.  She didn't like the Brussels sprouts, but she would forget that she didn't like them and eat them.  She hardly ate her macaroni salad and salmon.  I ate everything and the bread pudding too.
I got mom to push Donna back to the room.  I brushed mom's teeth.  After dinner she kept saying something was stuck in her teeth.  A piece of food did come out.  I combed mom's hair and looked at her photo book with her.  Mom enjoyed it.  Donna said she had to go to the washroom so I wheeled her in their and she pulled the cord.
I took mom to play card bingo with Michael and Shanta.  Michael was already waiting for us.  I got Joe to play with us because I didn't know when Donna would be back.  Mom won twice, but she was anxious and kept asking what she was supposed to do.  I had to keep telling her to turn the card over.
Donna never showed up.  I took mom back to her room.  Donna was still sitting there.  She hadn't had her diaper changed yet.  A male care aide said he would be on it.  He had just changed Joan.
I said good-bye to the ladies.  Mom walked me to the door of her room and waved.

Wednesday 22 November 2017

Mom got a hair cut

Wednesday, November 22, 2017
Mom had already eaten most of her dinner when I arrived.  Both mom and Donna sported new haircuts. I had eaten half my dinner when mom said she had to go to the washroom.  We made it!  Mom took a poop.  I changed her diaper.  We got back and finished dinner.  It was a "Chinese" chicken "stir fry."  Dessert was a banana mousse tart.
We had a lot of time after dinner today.  We wheeled Donna to the nurses' station.  I took mom back to the room and we went through her photo album.  We read through the ant and the grasshopper, but she didn't want me to read her any more stories in Japanese.  I put the headset on her and we walked around while she sang.
We played cards.  Chris joined us after he had dinner so I let him play my hand.  I let him call the cards for a couple of games while I went to the bathroom to freshen up.  He told me that I had bad breath.  How embarrassing.
After cards we left mom and Donna with Michael in the television room.
Chris was wondering why Michael was at the facility.  He thinks Michael is "normal."  But that may be in comparison to mom and Donna.

Sunday 19 November 2017

Deluge

Sunday, November 19, 2017
It was pouring rain.  Mom had cleaned her plate when arrived.  It was my favourite dinner.  Greek chicken.  I missed it. Barbara said that I should go and ask for a plate.
I had mom push Donna back to the room.  Mom wasn't wearing a diaper.  I put one on her.
I combed mom's hair.  I replaced her toothpaste.
We played cards.  I asked Santos to join us, but he only played one game.
After cards, mom said she had to take a pee.  Luckily we made it.
I had mom push Donna into the fish tank room to await their hot cocoa.
The bus came on time.  It was pouring rain and cold.

Saturday 18 November 2017

Poinsettias

Saturday, November 18, 2017
Charlene and I dropped off the poinsettias that I picked up from the St. Thomas Moore craft fair.
Mom and Donna were having tea and cookies with Barbara and another lady.
I went back after dinner.  When I arrived mom and Donna had gone back to their room.  Donna was getting her diaper changed.  Mom was sitting quietly on the bed.  I combed her hair.  Mom and Donna said that mom didn't need to go to the washroom.
We went to play cards.  We played in the dining area.  It was mostly clean.
I found a tube of toothpaste in mom's closet and two pairs of pants which were a little too long.  Mom didn't seem to like them.  I think she has enough pair of pants for now.

Thursday 16 November 2017

New toothbrush

Wednesday, November 15, 2017
Dinner was already served when I arrived.  I cut up mom's chicken for her.  She didn't seem to have much of an appetite.  She did eat all her green beans, but hardly touched the chicken or the potatoes.  She hardly even had any of her drinks.  She insisted she did not have to use the toilet.  It was Maryland chicken, oven-roasted potatoes, green beans and strawberry shortcake.  Yum!
I get mom to push Donna's wheelchair.  It's good exercise for her.
Mom's diaper was wet so I changed it.  Otherwise she seemed pretty clean.
Her toothbrush seems to have gone missing so I changed it.
I hope she is brushing her teeth.  I'm leaving earlier now.  I don't want a ride from Alan.
We played cards in the dining area because it was clean and Joe had the television so loud in the fishtank room.  Chris showed up.  He said there was too much food and he couldn't finish the whole meal.
We had a fun game.  Mom was confused as usual as was Donna.
After the game, we left mom and Donna at the nursing station.

Sunday 12 November 2017

Miyuki and Hikari come for a visit

Sunday, November 12, 2017
Donna was sitting alone at the table when I arrived.  I asked her where mom was and Donna said that mom went to the washroom.  I went to look for mom.  She had just arrived at the nurse's station and she was in distress.  She was relieved to see me.  She didn't know where the washroom was.
Luckily we made it in time.  Her diaper was still dry.   There was a slight stain.  She did one small ball of poop and lots of pee.  Disaster averted.
We went through mom's photo book with Miyuki and Hikari.  Then it was time to go to dinner.  Because there were 3 of us joining mom for dinner we were seated in the communal kitchen.
Hikari really enjoyed his meal.  He ate mom's mashed potatoes and mine too and our Boston cream pie as well. He said the salmon was the best he had tasted in a long time.
Mom had a good appetite.
After dinner we went back to the room so I could take mom for a pee.  We bumped into Donna along the way.  Donna had to use the toilet too so mom and I used the toilet in the other room.  Luckily Larry was able to assist Donna so that she could come and play cards with us.
Hikari played with us.  I was the caller.  Then Hikari became the caller.  We played for about half an hour and then Miyuki and Hikari went home.
I brought mom and Donna out to the nurses' station to join the Croatian lady.  I was going to take mom for another pee, but she insisted she didn't have to.
After I gave mom and Donna a hug good-bye, the Croatian lady asked for a kiss so I had to oblige.
I have to remember to put Vaseline on mom's face next time.

Saturday 11 November 2017

Saturday card bingo

Saturday, November 11, 2017
Mom and Donna were watching the news when I arrived.  I got mom to push Donna in the wheelchair to their room.  I changed mom's wet diaper.  Her hair was not tangled as it usually is.
We played card bingo.  Mom can recognize the suit, but she doesn't seem to understand that she needs an exact match.  Donna seems to have a vision or focus problem.  Mom also doesn't understand she is supposed to turn the card over when she gets a match.  She needs to be prompted a lot.
After card bingo I took the girls back to the room.  Again I got mom to push the wheelchair.  I brushed mom's teeth and washed her face.  I forgot to take her for a pee again.
Donna said she was very tired and wanted to get ready for bed.  Mom was in a good mood as usual.

Donna goes to the washroom by herself

Wednesday, November 8, 2017
Mom had drank all her beverages and mine too when I arrived.  She kept saying she wasn't hungry and had not touched her food, but I suspect it is because she didn't know how to use the cutlery.  I cut up her baked potato and her meatloaf and eventually she started to eat it.  She ate most of her veggies too.  Edward had eaten all his meatloaf.  Donna ate everything.  Jacquie was sitting with her friends Rudy and Diane.
After dinner we went back to the room.  Mom and I went through her photo book. Mom had a pee.  Her diaper was clean for a change.  Donna wanted to use the washroom.  I had my doubts.  I went to check back on her after I went to set up for card bingo.  I had to help her pull up her diaper.  I used rubber gloves.  I noticed that there were some stains on her pants.
Everyone likes the black top with the sparkly silver bits on it.  Even Michael commented on it.  Donna asked me about the top and I told her that I bought it for mom's birthday.
We all played card bingo and it was fun.  I played because we were missing a player to make 5.  Joe was watching television.  Chris came and joined us.  I asked him to drive me to the skytrain station.

Fall back

Sunday, November 5, 2017
I arrived way too early.  I forgot to change my watch.  I was surprised to see mom and Donna have coffee.  I joined them for a weightlifting activity at 3:00.  After the activity, I took mom for a walk to the park.  It was sunny, but cold.  Mom was okay.  We came back in 15 minutes.  Donna went to the washroom by herself while we were gone. I was surprised she didn't need help.  She can't even get up from her wheelchair.
We went to sit in the dining room.  It was way too early.  We sat and drank our beverages.  Eventually coffee and tea arrived and I served everyone at our table except for Jacquie who had not yet arrived.
We had a reconstituted pork cutlet, sauerkraut, mixed Italian veggies and mashed potatoes with gravy.  Boston cream pie for dessert.  I found it a little too sweet and a bit dry.
After dinner, I took mom to the washroom again.  Her diaper was fairly clean.
I talked to the nurse about diaper changes.  She said that residents were changed twice per shift.  I asked her what a shift was.  She said it was 8 hours.  I was thinking that residents were only changed twice a day.  There's got to be a better way.  I watched a youtube video on how a wheelchair ridden person was changed.  I would feel violated.
I started the card game early because I wanted to go home early.  It was fun.  I brushed mom's teeth and washed her face and toileted her. I know she will have hot cocoa and a sweet later, but I figured I would just get her ready all the same.

Diaper change

Wednesday, November 2, 2017
Everyone was seated at the table when I arrived.  Rudy was there too.  Mom had polished off all of my and her beverages too.  Although she complained that she wasn't hungry, she ate most of her food.  It was shepherd's pie. broccoli, cauliflower and corn.  Dessert was cheese cake.
Jacquie ordered fish, but she didn't get it until we had all finished our meal.
I took mom to the washroom and she had a pee.  She had also peed in her diaper so I changed it. She didn't want to put another diaper on and she was wearing a pair of clean underpants so I let her go without the diaper. Her hair was clean, but quite matted at the back so I combed the front and mom combed the back.
We went through her photo book.
Donna said she had to take a poo so I informed the care aides.  Finally one responded, but she said she was just going on her break.
I went to play cards with our smaller group.  Joe joined us today so it was more fun.  The men enjoyed playing with Chris.  Chris enjoyed his dinner.  Unfortunately, he wasn't able to help Rudy with his new phone.
After cards, I went to check in on Donna and she had been changed, but now she was in her pajamas and she didn't want to join us.
Nobody wanted hot cocoa so I had a little sip of mom's and ate a bite of her mandarin orange cake.  We sat around and talked about music in the old days.
I took mom back to the room for a pee, but she didn't produce any.  I was worried because she wasn't wearing a diaper.  She complained that the toilet seat was too cold.
We sat in the hallway by the nurses' station and sang Japanese folk songs.  A resident told me that she had to take a poo.  I notified an aide.  By the time she got help, she had probably already soiled her diaper.
When it was time to go, mom was a little upset.  I took her back to her room and a nurse was there to give her meds.

Mom's Birthday

Saturday, October 28th, 2017
Donna was sitting at the dinner table.  Mom was sitting with Joan in the fish tank room.
I took mom back to her room and changed her.  I changed her diaper as well.  Her diaper wasn't too filled, but there was some poop in it.
We combed her hair.
Then, I sat her with Donna.
Charlene and Aunti Sumi showed up.  We took a photograph with Donna and then we went to the restaurant.
Mom had trouble getting into the car.
She didn't seem very agitated and seemed excited about going out for dinner.
Mom was fine at the restaurant.  She ate lots of tempura, some fish and rice and lots of Japanese tea.  She ate the cucumber pickles too.  She refused to drink the miso soup with a spoon.  I was worried she was going to spill like last time, but she was fine.
When we got back, I took her straight to the washroom.
Then I rounded up the usual group and we played cards.  It was quite deserted today.
After cards, Michael went to watch his movie.  I gathered up some other stray people and we drank hot cocoa and ate cookies.  The Chinese lady with the missing teeth ate two egg sandwiches.  The old man with the hearing aids is not allowed to have liquids, but he didn't want to eat his apple sauce either.  He said he had just come back from dinner with his daughter and wasn't hungry.
After the snack I got mom to wheel Donna back to the room and I got mom ready for bed.
Donna had lots of trouble getting up from her wheelchair to her walker.
I said good-bye to mom and left.

Anna is gone

Wednesday, October 25, 2017
Anna is gone.
I heard last Sunday that she was leaving on Tuesday.
I wonder if she went to a different facility.
She thought she was going home.  Last month she said she was going to Italy with her son.
Mom was eating dinner when I arrived.  She had drank all her beverages including mine when I arrived.  No wonder she wasn't hungry. Donna was in a wheelchair again.
It was chicken stir fry.  I got a lot of food and put it in the fridge to take for lunch tomorrow, but I forgot it:(
After dinner I took mom to the washroom.  Her diaper was a little wet and there was some poop.  We took a long time to clean her bum and nether regions.
Chris arrived so I asked him to get his dinner from the kitchen.  After I had watered the plants, put mom's pee-soaked pajama bottoms in the laundry hamper, combed her hair, etc. I went to the dining room.  One of the aides told me that Chris should eat in the kitchen area.
While mom sat with Chris, I got the table to get ready to play cards.
There was still some time so we took mom for a walk around the facility.
Then we rounded up the usual suspects and played cards.
Joe didn't want to play.  He's hanging around with William now.
After cards we sat around for a very long time before hot cocoa arrived.  Mom didn't touch her hot cocoa.  I had hot cocoa and an egg sandwich.
I got mom to wheel Donna back to the room.  I put her against the window.  This is her usual perch now I think.
I took mom back to the room and brushed her teeth, washed her face and took her for a pee.  I put some Vaseline on her face.  It was very dry.  I think she washes her face with the hand soap.
I think some of the care aides are just not very good.
Mom followed me to the nurses' station and we sang for a bit.
When I went to leave she was clearly upset.  I took her back to the room and said good-bye again.  This time she seemed fine.  I think it was just because she didn't know how to get back to her room.
Alan drove me home.  We got in a bit of a traffic jam.  Probably leftover from earlier  closure on the Queensborough bridge.  When he stopped by the bus stop, he started talking about abuse that his mother had suffered at the hands of an eastern European aide.  Yikes!  He wanted to keep talking, but I just wanted to go home.

Long wait for Donna for diaper change

Sunday, October 22, 2017
I brought the pants that Lucy had given me for mom and a hand-me-down pink shirt for mom for labeling.
I arrived at 5:20.  Mom was still at the dinner table.  She had only eaten her salad and had not touched her Greek chicken.  She said she had to go to the washroom.  Yikes!  Luckily we made it, but not before I had wiped the toilet seat.  She had a bit of a pee accident, but all the poop landed in the toilet.  I changed mom's wet diaper.
I cut up mom's chicken and she ate a bit.  She did enjoy her two fresh orange quarters.  I helped mom eat her chicken.  It was delicious.  Mom had a bit of tea with milk and seemed to enjoy it.
Donna didn't want to go back to the room, but I could tell that her diaper was full of poop.  I had her sit in her walker and pushed her back to the room.  The aide said I should pull the rope in the washroom.  Another aide came and sat Donna in a chair.  Then she told Donna that she was going on a break and left her there.
I went to play cards with the usual group, but Donna never showed up.  Nivanka, the care aide who is doing Anna duty was there.  She invited Betty to join.  Betty just could not play.  During the game, mom said she had to go to the washroom.  We didn't quite make it so I had to change mom's diaper again.  Donna was still sitting in the chair and the aide was sitting with her.  Donna still haadn't had her diaper changed.  I think the aide was just waiting until it was time for Donna to go to bed. I had asked Nivanka to take overwith the cards, but apparently Anna did not like this.
When I got back, Anna had left to bother Irma.  We continued to play and Anna came back.
After the game, we had hot cocoa.  Mom did not touch her cocoa or her muffin so I ate her muffin and a cheese sandwich.  It was good.
Then I took mom to brush her teeth and wash her face.  Donna was already in bed. Mom forgot how to brush her teeth.  I think there may have been blood.  She complained when I washed her face with a towel.
We sat in the hall to wait for Alan.  We sang a Yuyakekoyake.  Primo tried to talk to us, but Anna kept insulting him.  Mom had trouble swallowing her medication.  She tried to bite it.  Eventually she swallowed it.
We left later than usual because Alan and Shanta were watching Oprah on 60 minutes.
Alan said that Anna was being taken to a different facility.

Saturday 21 October 2017

impromptu balloon toss game

Saturday, October 21, 2017
I arrived at approx. 5:40p.m.  Mom and Donna were still in the dining hall.  I took mom to her room.  We had to find an available washroom.  I think we used Anka's.  I had to clean the toilet seat first.  Mom took a poop.  I changed mom's diaper and wiped her bum.  Then we combed her hair.
Mom was wearing another of her new tops.  She looked good.  I put her black top in the clothes hamper.  I hope it comes back okay.
We played cards with the usual group.  One of the aides joined us.  She is watching Anna.  Mandy usually hides in the kitchen and does her texting.  This one actually participated.  After cards we sat around and had hot cocoa.  George joined us.  I was going to take mom to her room to wash up, but this care aide initiated a balloon toss game.  It was fun.  Unfortunately, I didn't have time to wash mom up.  I gave everyone a big hug, Michael and George too.

Wednesday 18 October 2017

Mom is wearing her new top

Wednesday, October 18, 2017
I arrived a little late because my bus did not show up.  Luckily I was able to catch an alternate bus.
Dinner was served a little late so that was good for me.  Not so good for mom.  She had drank all her beverages.  I had ordered a dinner for Chris as well, but mom was investigating and opened one of the juices.  Luckily, the dinners were moved to another table where people were less demented.
Apparently the fruit lady had come by earlier.  The bananas were green so Donna wanted to take them and let them ripen, but mom insisted on peeling hers.  A tug of war ensued.  In the end, Donna had the two bananas.  Jacquie asked if mom had always been this feisty to which I replied in the affirmative.
We had Maryland chicken, roasted potatoes, beans and strawberry shortcake.  Delicious.  There was too much food so I saved it for tomorrow's lunch.
Mom was wearing one of her new tops.  It was black with shiny dots.  It looked great on her.  She was happy.
Chris arrived about 6:45.  I took mom to the bathroom and she took a poop.  I had to change her diaper, clean her up etc.
We played cards.  Mom was having difficulty and needed lots of help.  She kept asking if the card was good or bad.  At least she was engaged.
After cards we sat around for a bit.  Anna thinks that mom is my daughter.
We had hot cocoa and cookies.
I helped mom brush her teeth and wash her face and took her for one last pee.  She wanted to come with me, but in the end she sat with Anna.

Monday 16 October 2017

New tops are in the closet

Sunday, October 16, 2017
Mom was halfway through her salmon dinner when I arrived.  It looked like she ate about half of everything.  She was in a good mood.
I went to her room to water the plants, check laundry, etc.  I removed a few golf shirts.  Her new shirts were labeled and in the closet.  I cleaned the washroom too.
Mom and Donna were sitting at the nurses' station.  I collected mom and brought her back to the room.  I put mom on the toilet, checked her diaper, etc.  No poop.  We went through her photo book.  She really enjoyed it.  Some photos she had me and her mixed up.
We played cards with the usual group.  Joe was watching television.  I found it a bit loud.
After cards we sat around and waited for hot cocoa.  Mandy wheeled Anka over to our table. One of the nurses joined us.  She is Serbian/Croatian.  She and Anka sang some songs in Croatian.  They were songs about young women and finding love.  One was about a young woman who goes to the river to wash clothes.  Her mother is checking up on her.  She meets a man by the river and he makes the water dirty so she can't wash the clothes and has to spend more time with him.
Mom didn't touch her hot chocolate or her egg sandwich so I ended up eating both quarters.
I brushed mom's teeth and washed her face.  She took a poop.
We sat by the nurses' station.  Anna was chatting.  Anka does not like Anna.
Mandy said that she was getting married in February to a younger man.

Friday 13 October 2017

Where are mom's tops?

Friday, October 13, 2017
I arrived after dinner.  It was Salisbury steak.  Mom and Donna were all ready to play horse bingo.  I went to mom's room and tidied up.  She had some laundry, I watered her plants, cleaned the bathroom, etc.
I went to the nurses' station to inquire about mom's tops.  I haven't seen them yet.  I sent them to be labeled on Saturday.  I also inquired about mom's scissors, wallet, etc.  It took several visits to the station to find someone who could help me.
Mom won a piece of chocolate so I split it with her and Donna.
Shanta gave me her chocolate.
I got Anka to join in with the horse races.  She seemed to enjoy it.  Anna was also enjoying the activity.
I took Shanta back to Alan.
I took mom to the washroom.  She had a poop!  A normal one.
Later we sat around and had hot cocoa. I ate two egg sandwich quarters.
I had to move Primo because he was bothering people at our table.
Irma and Anna were hitting each other and laughing.  Anna touch Irma's breast and Anka was offended.
I moved him between Harold and George and they seemed fine.
The British guy and another guy came to join the ladies.
After hot cocoa, I took mom to brush her teeth, etc.
She did a little more poop.
Then we sat at the nurses' station.
Donna had to have her diaper changed.
Mom, Anna and Anka sat in the hall by the nurses' station.

Wednesday 11 October 2017

No bath for Anna

Wednesday, October 11, 2017
They set up a separate table for me, mom and Chris, but of course Chris was coming late anyways so I moved everything over to mom's usual table.
Meatloaf, zucchini, baked potato and custard for dessert.  Yum!  Mom ate everything.  She drank all her beverages.
When I took her to the bathroom, she wasn't wearing any diapers.  There was a poopy diaper by the sink, poop smeared into the floor in front of the toilet, etc.  I wiped up as best I could with antiseptic wash towels.  I wiped mom's bum.  I put a new diaper on her and changed her pants too.
We played cards with the usual group.  Chris ate his dinner first and then joined us.  He really enjoyed his dinner.  He wants have dinner next week too. Joe joined us after the first game.  We had fun as usual.  I had to go to the washroom so Chris was caller for a bit.
We had hot cocoa.  Mom and I shared a 1/4 of an egg sandwich. Anna was refusing to take her bath.
I got mom ready for bed.  I noticed her diaper was soiled a bit.  I guess I didn't get all the poop.
The Croatian lady sang us a song by the nurses' station.
When I got home there was a message that some of mom's things had been confiscated and that I could pick them up at the nurses' station.  That was helpful, not.  Also, mom's 3 new tops have not been labeled yet.  Mom was wearing nice pants again.  I wonder where she got them from?

Monday 9 October 2017

3 new tops

Monday, October 9, 2017
I saw the janitorial staff guy, Kennedy outside.  He asked me why I didn't send him an e-mail.
Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic toast and vanilla pudding.  Mom would have none of it.  She did drink all her beverages.  I should have suspected earlier, but she had soiled her pants.  She had diarrhea and was farting.  Poor mom.
And she tried to remove her diaper herself and stick her hand up her bum.  Yikes.  I kept yelling not to touch anything.  She doesn't understand.  She just knows I'm excited about something.
I bought mom 3 new tops and Barbara liked them all.  I'll have to find mom's other winter tops.
It's getting chillier now.
I combed mom's hair.
I noticed hair on her bed and pillow.  It was fine short dark hair.  I wonder if someone else had been sleeping in mom's bed.
We played cards with the regular gang.
Joe was sitting with Bill and they were watching television.  It was a little loud, so I turned it down a bit and moved Joe and Bill up closer to the television.
Shanta fell asleep during the last couple of hands.
She won the last hand.
We had hot cocoa.  There were no egg sandwiches.  Mom ate a bit of her cheese sandwich and some cocoa.
I brushed mom's teeth.  The other day when I gave her the tooth brush, she immediately washed the toothpaste off so I had to start again.  I washed mom's face.
Kennedy kept asking me to call him.  I told him maybe next year.
Alan told me that mom had been looking for me on Sunday.

Saturday 7 October 2017

Aki

Saturday, October 7, 2017
Mom had already eaten her beef stew when I arrived at 5:10 p.m.  I cut up her giant dumpling for her.
Then I went to her room, watered her plants, sorted her laundry, took out some summer clothes from the closet to bring home, etc.  I got myself a tea and sat in Jacquie's spot because she had already left the table.  I could see that mom had to go to the washroom, so I immediately took her there.
She just did a pee and her diaper looked relatively clean.  I noticed her hair looked pretty clean too.
I guess they must have given everyone an extra wash for Thanksgiving.
I put the headset on mom and took her for a little walk.  We saw a squirrel run up a tree, a crow and some dogs in the park from the facility grounds.
Anna was dressed up and ready to go out for dinner with her family.  She wanted to tell me her daughter was picking her up, but she couldn't remember her name and neither could I.
We played card bingo.  I recruited Joe to take Anna's place. Some of the other guys in wheelchairs circled out table.  One guy was chatting with mom, but she said he was too loud. George tried to take Michael's television guide so I had to give George a different section of the paper.  I asked the British guy if he wanted to join us, but he said he was content to watch.
We had hot cocoa and egg sandwiches.  Michael and the Croatian lady joined us. The sugar cookie was really good too.  Mom said she didn't want to eat anything so I ate her sandwich and 3/4 of her cookie.  Eventually she drank her hot cocoa and her ate 1/4 of her cookie.  I should probably have waited longer before I devoured her food.
Aki walked by and Michael was all excited.  She's one of the staff.  All the men love her.
The staff were happy that I was there to keep the residents rounded up and occupied.  One staff mentioned that mom was walking around again.
Alan mentioned that Aki was quitting her job to move to the states where the hours and pay was better.

Wednesday 4 October 2017

Leftovers

Wednesday, October 4, 2017
Got to St. Michael's in good time.
Shepherd's pie, cauliflower and broccoli, cheese cake with blue berry sauce.
Mom ate most of her food.  She drank all the beverages.
Jacquie ordered an extra breaded fried fish, but she couldn't eat it.  I saved it for Chris and added my cheese cake with blue berry sauce.  I shared half of mom's.  I didn't even know for sure if Chris was coming.
After dinner, I took mom to the washroom.  I changed her diaper.  No poop.  I put the head set on and a jacket and we went for a short walk outside.
We played cards.  No Joe today.  Mom was having trouble understanding what to do.  I told Chris to show mom what to do by flipping the cards over.  She's got very good manual dexterity compared to Donna who has really bad arthritis.
Chris came and ate his snack.
After we had hot cocoa and an egg sandwich.  Michael stayed and chatted with the girls.  The Croatian woman joined us.
I took mom to brush her teeth, wash her face and use the toilet.

Sunday 1 October 2017

We made it!

Sunday, October 1, 2017
My bus was on time today so I made it for 5:00, but I had already eaten dinner.  Luckily mom had already eaten half her meal otherwise she would insist on sharing it with me. I went to drop off some clothes and water her plants and when I got back, mom was finished except for her banana cream pie which I ate with a cup of tea.  Mom was wearing a jacket today.  She was wearing a summer top and a fleecy.  I thought that was odd.  She was sniffling a bit and coughing.  I gave her some tea.  I wonder if she has a cold.  Her hair looked really greasy.
After dinner I took mom back to the room and put on her headset, but she didn't want to listen to the music.  I thought it was odd.  Turned out she had to use the toilet.
I took mom to the washroom.  Her diaper was pretty clean except for a streak of poop but I removed them.  She had on a pair of underpants already.
I had removed her fleecy and she didn't want to put it back on so I put on her black vest.
I put the headset back on and we went for a little walk.  She didn't want to go outside because it was too cold.  We walked a bit around the lobby.
We played card bingo with the usual group.  Joe joined us shortly after we started the first game.  We had to move to make room for him.  It was fun.
I took mom to the washroom.  I thought that was where she wanted to go.  Sure enough she did a substantial poop.  So glad we made it.  Imagine if we hadn't! I wiped her bum and put her in a diaper.
The group had split up when I got back and the ladies were sitting at the nurses' station.
After hot cocoa and a muffin, I took mom back to the room to brush her teeth and wash her face.
We sang songs by the nurses' station.

Wednesday 27 September 2017

Song in Croatian

Wednesday, September 27, 2017
Chicken stir fry, rice and mixed veggies.  Mousse tart.  I had just settled down with tea, gotten my milk and my meal, when mom said something about going to the bathroom.  We made it in time.
Mom had a bowel movement.  She was having some difficulty.  She kept trying to touch her bum and maybe pull out the poo.  I kept trying to distract her by singing.  I got her cleaned up, changed her diaper, etc.
Mom had been saying she wasn't hungry, but I think it was because she had to take a poo.  Her appetite was fine after we had come back.  Jacquie was already gone.  Everyone had already finished most of their dinner.  Donna had another cup of coffee with us.
I had to move Donna's chair so she could get up.  She had her walker again.  She's gained so much weight.
I put mom's head set on and took her for a little walk.  She was touching her eyes and then I realized she had sleep in them.  I took her back to her room and washed her face with a warm towel.
We played cards with the usual group.  Chris came and then Joe showed up.  It was fun.  At one point Anna got mad about the teasing and folded her cards, but then she started playing again.
We had hot cocoa and an egg sandwich.  Mom ate most of it this time with a little coaxing.  Donna ate a blue berry muffin.
I brushed mom's hair, helped her brush her teeth, washed her face, took her to the toilet, etc.
We sat in the hallway by the nurses' station.  Everyone asked about Donna, but she was in the washroom.  Mom and Donna are usually inseparable.
Mom and I sang songs.  Then this lady sang a song in Croatian.  She was a good singer.  She said she enjoyed singing and dancing.

Monday 25 September 2017

Cookies for the staff

Sunday, September 24th
I brought cookies for the staff.  The box was heavy.
Mom and Donna were already seated when I arrived.  Mom had already consumed her milk, juice and my juice. I told mom I had to go to the washroom.  When I got back, she said she had to go too and tried to go in the direction I had come from.  I use the guest washroom, but she has to use the one in her room.  I took her to her room.  She had pooped in her diaper.  She always tries to get in on the action and I keep trying to keep her hands away from the diaper.  She had another bowel movement.  I got her cleaned up and we headed back to dinner.  We all got served at the same time which was really nice.
Greek chicken, greek salad, pilaf and chocolate cream pie.  My favourite!  We all enjoyed the meal.
Jacquie wasn't there.  I helped Edward open his two creams and I helped Ailene roll up her sweater sleeve.  After dinner I took mom back to the room, put her head set on and took her for a walk.  She was enjoying her music and singing.
I got her to comb her hair at the back because it was really matted.
We played card bingo.  It was fun.  Joe is such a card.
We had hot cocoa together.  I brought Barbara to join us after the boys left.
I helped mom brush her teeth, wash her face, and use the toilet.  She had a little more poop.
Then we went to sit by the nurses' station.
I got a ride home from Alan.  He said mom was hanging out in the lobby on Thursday.  He said she was disoriented because Donna wasn't there.

Wednesday 20 September 2017

Card bingo

Wednesday, September 20, 2017
Maryland chicken, sliced, roasted potatoes and green beans.  Strawberry short cake.  Yum!
Jacquie was with Rudy.  I think he got my dinner.  So I had to wait impatiently for my dinner and ask for cutlery, etc.  ;(  There was a farmer's market today.  Donna had a new bracelet, but she didn't remember where she got it from.  Mom had some cookies.  They also had choir today, but mom didn't remember.
Mom had a good appetite.  After dinner I took mom to the washroom.  She had removed her diaper and was wearing feces-stained trousers.  I put a pair of pull-ups on her.
We played cards.  Joe joined us.  It was fun.  Chris came by too.
Donna was in the washroom.  I think she pooped her pants.  Mandy didn't change her diaper or report it.  I found Donna waiting by the nurses' station.  She was just too tired.  I had her sit in her walker and push her to the card game.  She sat in the walker for the game.
An ambulance came to take someone away.  Shanta was distracted by that.  The rest were just focused on the game.
I pushed Shanta back to Alan and then I pushed Joe back to his room.  Anna, Donna, Michael and mom stayed together and had hot cocoa together.  I moved Donna from the walker to the chair for hot cocoa.  They sat together until 7:30 p.m.
Then, I had to help Donna get out of the chair.  I said I was going to push her, but she said she wanted to walk.  I took mom to the room and she had a pee.  I brushed her teeth and washed her face.  She walked me out to the nurses' desk to say good-bye.

Monday 18 September 2017

Poopy pants

Monday,  September 18, 2017
Swedish meatballs, wide noodles, gravy and mixed veggies.  Blueberry tart. Yum!
Mom wasn't eating.  I asked mom if she wanted to go to the washroom.  Yes.  She pooped.  But she had also pooped in her pants.  She wasn't wearing any underpants or diapers. I had to remove her pants.  I had to clean her bum.
I shut the room to the door and told her to hurry to her bed.  No one was in the room.  Everyone was in the dining room.  I got mom changed.
She saw her new shoes, but she said they were too big and weren't hers.
I took her back to the dining room and she ate her dinner.  Everyone else had already finished and was sitting in the fish tank room, ready for foam sticks and balloons.
Donna went to the washroom.  She was gone for a long time.
Mom was playing the balloon game.
Donna eventually showed up.
Anna sat and chatted with me.
After the activity, I took Shanta back to Alan.
We still had 20 minutes until hot cocoa so I played a few rounds of card bingo with mom, Donna and Anna.  Then we had hot cocoa.

Teriyaki chicken, potato salad, carrot and raisin salad.  Orange cake.  Yum!  I gave everyone at the table a mandarin orange.  I gave one to Ailene too.  And Joan and Barbara.  Jacquie ate with her boyfriend today.
All the toilets were occupied so we had to use a toilet at the other end of the hall.
Mom took a poop.
I wiped her bum, put her new pants, etc.  She had a lot of clothes in the laundry hamper so I transferred everything to the communal one.  There was a pair of poopy underpants.  I'll have to leave a note that if there is anything poopy or full of pee, it should just go into the communal wash.
The new shoes fit.  I asked to have them labeled.  I threw out her old shoes because they were smelly.
We played cards with the whole gang including Joe.  We had a good time.
Hot cocoa didn't show up so we waited by the nurses' station.  I could see the hot cocoa, but no one was serving.  The new guy who is looking after Anna wasn't doing his job.  I think he was chatting on the phone.  I started serving everyone.  It was already 7:15 and I wanted to get mom's teeth brushed and her face washed before I left.  Finally the guy showed up.

Wednesday 13 September 2017

Replaced toothbrush

Wednesday, September 13, 2017
Mom's toothbrush was missing.  I replaced it.  I got someone at the nurses' station to label it.
Meatloaf with gravy, baked potato with sour cream, zucchini and baked custard.  Yum!  We all enjoyed our meal.  Jacquie chose the fish option.  Edward poured sugar on his meatloaf.
Mom wasn't wearing a diaper.  She took a poop.  She was wearing tie up black shoes.
I put the headset on mom and took her for a walk.  She was singing.
We played cards with the gang.  It was fun.  Chris dropped by.
After cards, Michael stayed and had hot cocoa with us.  George sat with us too.
I ate mom's egg sandwich and drank most of her cocoa.  She said she wasn't hungry.
I got mom ready for bed: brushed teeth, washed face, took her for a pee.
Alan gave me a ride home.

Sunday 10 September 2017

New shoes too snug

Sunday, September 10, 2017
Reconstituted pork cutlet, sauerkraut, mixed veggies, and chocolate cream pie.
Mom hardly ate anything and neither did Edward.  Donna and I enjoyed our meals.  Donna kept telling mom to try the chocolate cream pie and mom kept on saying she wasn't hungry.
The care aide told me that mom was touching her stomach.
I asked mom if she needed to go to the washroom, but she told me she was fine.
After dinner we went to the washroom and I saw a wet and poopy diaper by the sink.
I disposed of it and wiped up the area with disinfectant.
Mom took a pee and I wiped her butt.  There was some blood and I showed the care aide because she happened to be there.  She said there was nothing to be concerned about unless it was black.
I put mom in her pull ups.  I put her clothes in the communal laundry hamper.
We played card bingo with the usual group.  After card bingo I took Shanta back to Alan.
Anna told us she was going to Italy for two months to visit family in Venice.
She said she was going with her son Mauritzio.
Michael said he would go on his cruise next year.  He said he wanted to walk without his walker.
Michael went to watch television.  I pulled George over to join us.
Mom ate her egg salad sandwich today.  She was probably hungry because she didn't touch her dinner.  George ate his sandwich today.  Anna didn't eat a sandwich.
After I got mom ready for bed, I sat in the hallway.  There was a lady there who complained about M spraying her perfume.
I wonder if M. abuses the patients by teasing them.  I don't think she is very nice.  I think she is a pathological liar.  She told me that she is getting married in February; however, I suspect she is pregnant and will probably have her baby in February.

Saturday 9 September 2017

Red balloon

Saturday, September 9, 2017
I bumped into one of the physiotherapists today.  She suggested a companion instead of a physiotherapist.  I'll think about it.
Creole beef stew, giant dumpling, mixed veggies and lemon tart.
Everyone enjoyed their meal.  Jacquie liked the giant dumpling which she compared to a sponge.
Edward just tasted the dumpling.
There was a hymn sing today.  Jacquie really enjoyed it.  She said mom sang too.
It's a lot cooler today.  It rained.
Mom wasn't wearing underpants or an undershirt.
I put underpants on her.
I took mom for a short walk outside, but she said it was too cold.
We played with a red balloon.
We played cards.  Joe joined us for a bit, but he had to go to the washroom and then he didn't come back.  After cards I played with the red balloon with Anna, mom and Donna.  The aide had us include George.  We tossed the balloon around.  I became tired quickly.
Then mom had hot cocoa and a cheese sandwich.  George wanted to share his sandwiches with us, but there were no takers.  Donna ate a peanut butter and jam sandwich.  Anna ate an egg and a cheese sandwich.
I took mom to get ready for bed.  She did a small poop.
Then we sat by the nurses' station and sang songs while I waited for Alan to drive me home.

Wednesday 6 September 2017

Date

Wednesday, September 6, 2017
Shepherd's pie, broccoli and cauliflower, cheesecake with blueberry sauce.
Different serving staff today.  Efficient.  The whole table was served at once.
Everyone enjoyed the meal.
Jacquie was wearing her blonde wig and having dinner with her boyfriend.
I took mom for a walk.  When I got back, I found out she wasn't wearing a diaper or underpants.
She did a small poop.
Donna had a full diaper so I called for help.
We played cards around the round table by the beverage dispenser machine.
The usual group.  Chris came and he talked about a girl he met.
The group was interested, especially Michael.
He said there were a couple of staff that he would like to take on a date.
We had hot cocoa together.  It was fun.
I helped mom get ready for bed.
I got a ride home from Alan.
Mom is wearing 5.5 shoes.  Sketchers.

Monday 4 September 2017

Lazy M

Monday, September 4, 2017
I didn't have dinner with mom.  Mom and Donna were sitting by the nurses' station.
Donna said she didn't want to play cards so I took mom out for a walk with the headset on.
She had to go to the toilet so we came back, but it was too late.
She had already taken a poop and pee.
I cleaned her up.
We played cards with the usual gang.
Primo started vocalizing a lot and it was bothering Anna.  She said she came from northern Italy and he came from southern Italy so she didn't understand what he was saying.  She went over to give him a piece of her mind.  I called M, but she never heard me.  She was sitting in a chair with her feet up and a fan blowing air on her.  Really!  The other aide at least sits within sight of Anna.  Anyways, Anna came back to the game.
Then we had hot cocoa.  I got an egg sandwich for mom.  Donna said mom ate her dinner to night.  It was chicken.  Everyone's favourite.
I helped mom brush her teeth, wash her face, take a pee, etc.  Mom took another poop.  She grabbed the poop with the toilet paper I gave her and pulled it out of her bum!  I cleaned her up.
Then I was going to say good-bye, but she followed me to the fish tank room so we sang a Japanese song.  Musunde hiraite, teohute, musunde.  We did the actions too.  We did leg exercises and mom could count to 50.
Donna came to check up on us and let us know she was going to bed.
Then we went to sit by the nurses' station.  Finally Alan was finished with his mom and I got a ride home.

Sunday 3 September 2017

No paper cups

Sunday, September 3, 2017
Beef and macaroni casserole.  Mixed veggies.  Banana cream pie.
No Jacquie today.  Mom and Edward hardly ate anything.  Mom had two bibs on.  I took one off of her and put it on Edward.  He was wearing a white shirt and a napkin.  He thanked me.
After dinner we played cards.  Mom was wearing the same shirt as Friday.
No Joe today.  We had a good time.
We had hot cocoa.  I asked for an egg sandwich for mom.
She had two bites and so did I.
Barbara started crying because I was combing mom's hair.
I got a ride home from Alan.
Still no paper cups by the sink.  Two days now.

Saturday 2 September 2017

Saturday night cards.

Saturday, September 2, 2017
Salmon, macaroni salad, Brussels sprouts and bread pudding.  Mom and Edward hardly ate anything.
Mom took a small poop.  She keeps trying to touch her bum, so I sang a song to keep her occupied and then the poop slipped out.
We played card bingo.  Joe joined us again.
He told us about his electric shaver going missing.
He got it back after two days.
Apparently his neighbour had it.
We all had hot cocoa and a cookie together today.  Mom had an egg sandwich and she ate it all.
Joe is Russian and he remembers when all the Japanese were interned.
Mom was smiling.
Barbara had gone to her granddaughter's wedding today.  She was really happy.
Got a ride with Alan again.
I told him I was thinking about getting a therapist to do some exercise with mom.

Friday 1 September 2017

Greasy hair

Friday, September 1, 2017
Ginger pork, rice, green and yellow beans.  Jello.  Mom ate everything.
After dinner I gave mom a shower and washed her hair.
She farted and poop came out.  Yikes!
We played cards.  It took a while to round everyone up.
Michael gets his bath on Fridays.
The new guy joined us.  Anna was a little too touchy feely with him.
We had fun.
We had hot cocoa and a sandwich.
I took mom to brush her teeth.
We sat by the nurses' station and sang songs.
Mom has pull ups now.
I think mom had put Vaseline in her hair.

Wednesday 30 August 2017

New guy

Wednesday, August 30, 2017
Mom's hair looked really greasy.  I think they forgot to give mom a shower on Tuesday.  I told the nurse.
We had chicken stir fry.  It wasn't bad.  Mom hardly ate anything.  She had drank all her beverages.
I took mom to the washroom and she had a bowel movement.
She wasn't wearing any underwear.
I took mom back to the dining room, but she still wouldn't eat.
We played card bingo.  A new guy joined us.  It's nice for Michael to have some company, but the two guys were loud.
Alan said that on Monday, Anna got into an altercation with mom.  I asked the care aide and she said that Anna got into an altercation with Primo and mom wasn't involved.
Chris came and chatted briefly.  Mom didn't drink her hot cocoa and only ate part of her sandwich.
Mom had a pee and a wet fart.
I brushed mom's teeth and washed her face and then sat in the hallway and sang songs with Donna and mom.  Anna joined us, but she didn't know the songs.

Sunday 27 August 2017

"New" clothes

Sunday, August 27, 2017
Greek chicken dinner with rice and salad.  My favourite.  Mom got served last and she was upset although she didn't show it.  She kept saying she wasn't hungry.  She started eating when everyone else was almost finished.  I can see that Edward likes chicken.  We had banana cream pie and Boston cream pie for dessert.  Yum!
After dinner I took mom for a little walk.  When she said she had to go to the washroom, I took her back.  Donna was already in the washroom, so I had to take mom to the other washroom.  Mom's diaper was full so I changed it.
We played cards.  It was fun.
After cards I took Shanta back to Alan.  The rest of the group sat together for a few minutes longer.
I cut mom's bangs.  Then I tried the shirts that Charlene had given mom.  Most of them looked like they would fit; however, they were a bit long.
There was a lot of laundry in mom's basket and it smelled strongly of pee so I just loaded everything into the communal hamper.
Mom didn't drink her hot cocoa so I drank it.  She may have eaten her muffin.  I didn't see one.
I got mom to brush her teeth and I washed her face with a towel.  I put Vaseline on her face because it looked a little dry. I took her for pee.  Then I took her to get her hands washed.  Then she tried to put soap on her face.  I wiped the soap off.  No wonder her face was dry.
Alan wasn't ready yet so I sat with mom by the nurses' station and we sang songs together.  Anna came to join us.

Wednesday 23 August 2017

Chris

Wednesday, August 23, 2017
Maryland chicken with baked potato wedges and green beans.  Strawberry shortcake.  Yum!  They served mom before me so she kept insisting she wasn't hungry.  I don't know why they don't serve the whole table first.  Jacquie said she would bring it up at the next meeting.
Edward was MIA so we brought it to the attention of care staff.  He really liked his chicken.
Donna was wearing a dress today.  Mom said Donna's legs looked fat.  Donna asked me what mom said so I said that she was wearing a nice dress.  Both Donna and mom have gained a lot of weight.
I bought mom a new orchid today.  She likes it.
We played cards with the gang.  Chris arrived around 6:15.  Michael wasn't winning and I discovered that his card had been left in the box. Yikes! He won the next couple of games. All the ladies liked Chris and flirted with them.  Mom was really happy to see him.  I guess I'm chopped liver.
I couldn't find mom's album.  Barbara had it in her drawer.  She said that mom should be proud of her heritage.
The nurse gave mom her medication, but she had trouble taking it.  She was trying to chew the pill.  I told her to drink water, but it took her a bit to finally swallow it.
After hot cocoa (mom hardly had any) I took mom back to the room to use the toilet, brush teeth, wash face, etc.
I got a ride home with Alan.

Tuesday 22 August 2017

Stale cookies for coffee

Tuesday, August 22, 2017
Took the day off from work.
Visited mom at coffee time.
Mom and Donna were still in their room, but on their way out.
We sat with Michael because their usual table was occupied.
Norman, the volunteer, joined us.
Mom had to go to the washroom so I took her.  Her diaper was dry.
She had a shower today so her hair wasn't tangled.
But her bum was full of tissue paper.
I had to clean her bum.
She felt relieved.  She probably didn't know why she was so uncomfortable.
Her diaper was dry.
I was going to take her for a walk, but they were having an arm class.  I took mom to the arm class.
I went to get Donna.  She was taking a long time so I told her to sit in her walker and I pushed her.
That worked well.  Poor Donna.  She was happy to join once she got there, but I think she's in a lot of pain.

Sunday 20 August 2017

Sunday

Sunday, August 20, 2017
Mom had already eaten most of her dinner when I arrived and she didn't want to eat the food I bought from Fujiya :(  She didn't even want to eat her salmon.
Jacquie's boyfriend was there.  But we found out he is a racist :( I wonder if Jacquie will break up with him.  He seemed like such a nice guy.
I took mom to the washroom and she did a poop.  I changed her wet diaper.  This time I changed her into a new diaper instead of new underpants.  She did protest, but relented.
Barbara and Donna looked at mom's photo album.  Barbara was asking mom if she had ever had children before.  She still thinks mom is pregnant.  I used the photo album to show her when I was a baby, but she wondered where the baby had gone.  I told her that I had grown up and was now old.
We played card bingo. It was fun.
After card bingo we went back to the room because Donna had to use the toilet.  I gave mom a hug and said good-bye to everyone.  Mom walked me to the bedroom door.

Saturday 19 August 2017

Lazy saturday afternoon

Saturday, August 19, 2017
I arrived at 3:00 p.m.  There was a whole group of people watching "Titanic."  I went to mom's room and mom and Donna were lying in their beds.  I asked mom if she needed to go to the bathroom and she responded in the affirmative.  I had to change her diaper because it was soaked and there was poop as well.  I put the diaper in a plastic bag and put it in the garbage.  I wiped mom's butt and put her in clean underwear.  Mom was happy.
I put a head set on her and took her for a little walk to the garden outside.  Donna said she was too tired to get out of bed although she did try.  I lifted the head of the bed for her so she could be more comfortable.  When we got back, Donna was getting out of bed and putting her slippers on.
I washed mom's face and took the head set off.  Then took her to sit with Donna by the nurses' station.  Anna was there too.

Tuesday 15 August 2017

Donna fine, Jacquie back

Tuesday, August 15, 2017
We had crusted baked fish, sliced baked potatoes and boiled carrots.  The potato was very good.  Cherry tart for dessert.  Mom liked the cherry tart.  She ate it before her main course, but in the end she ate everything.
Jacquie was going out a bit too much with her new boyfriend.  She needed a rest.
Donna looked fine.  She probably has pain because of her arthritis.
We sang the Sound of Music and Eidelweiss together.
Everyone enjoyed it.
I took mom to the washroom.  She did a poop and a pee.
Her underwear looked okay; however, I suspect she had changed already because I saw a pair of underpants in the bathroom.  I didn't examine them too carefully, but I put them in the laundry hamper.
We played card bingo with Ming.  Mom won a bag of potato chips.
I took Shanta back to Alan.  He said he was going to a festival at Royal Oak so I decided to go home on my own.
I took mom to her room for one last pee and then I sat her with Donna at the nurses' station.  Anna was no where in sight.
And I got my scissors, bag, nail clippers, etc. back again.

Sunday 13 August 2017

Jacquie in the hospital and Donna fell

Sunday, August 13, 2017
Reconstituted pork cutlet, sauerkraut, assorted beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. Boston cream pie for dessert.  Halfway through the meal, somehow mom let me know she had to go to the toilet.  We hurried and we made it.  She even took a poop.  I got her cleaned up and we went back to finish dinner.  Jacquie wasn't there.
I put the Walkman on mom and we went for a walk.  Then we gathered up the group and played card bingo without incident.  Mandy asked me to let her know when we finished.
After the game I took Shanta back to Alan.
The rest of the gang chatted for a bit and then Michael left.  We had hot cocoa and sandwiches.  Anna likes the egg sandwich.  Mom got a cheese sandwich.
I asked Anna if she knew what had happened to Jacquie and she said Jacquie was in the hospital.  She thinks she fell.
After the snack, I took mom to brush her teeth and wash her face.  Someone was getting a smelly diaper changed in Shanta's room so Alan had to delay putting his mom to bed.  I went back and changed mom into her nightgown and took her for a last pee.  I clipped her bangs too.
Donna fell.  She was okay.  I called the nurse.  Two other aides came.  It all seemed to take a long time.  She said she went to get her slippers from the closet and she fell.  She was rubbing her right hand.  I hope Donna is okay.  She seems very sensitive to sunlight and she can't seem to see very well.
We didn't leave until after 8:00 p.m.
Alan said that mom and Anna were sitting at the nurse's station until 8:30 pm.

Wednesday 9 August 2017

No Chris

Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017
Shepherd's pie, broccoli and cauliflower, cheesecake with blueberry sauce.
Mom ate everything.
Everyone liked my dark pink dress.
Took mom for a pee and she did a little poop.
She wasn't wearing underpants.
Her pants had poop stains.
Changed her.  Wiped her bum.  Put on the Walkman and took her for a walk.
She was happy.
Came back and played card bingo with the gang.
Drank our "white wine" together.
Then we had hot cocoa and a muffin.  Mom and I shared.  We both ate a small portion.
Mom was wearing an undershirt with her shirt unbuttoned.  She said she was warm.
After the snack, I took her to the washroom again.  Helped her brush her teeth and then brought her back to sit with Donna and Anna.
Got a ride back from Alan.
He asked me if I wanted to go for a beer, but I declined.

Monday 7 August 2017

Singing and dancing cat.

Monday, August 7, 2017
Fried chicken, oven fried potatoes, broccoli.  Mom's chicken was chopped up.  She didn't have a dessert.  I gave her a Yakult yogurt drink and some of my fried rice.  Edward ate most of his chicken. Jacquie ate with her boyfriend.
Charlene donated a singing and dancing cat.  I showed it off to a few tables.  Everyone enjoyed it.  I dropped it off at the nurses' station.
I took mom to the washroom and changed her diaper.
Her hair looks really greasy.  Her bath day is Tuesday.
We played cards.  Anna had a fit and threw her cards across the table.  She and Michael were teasing each other and then Donna joined in.  We just laid Anna's cards out and played them while she was gone.  She usually comes back and tells us that she went to the washroom.
After cards we sat and drank water pretending it was white wine.
Then, we got served hot cocoa and cheese sandwiches.
I put mom's walkman on and I took mom out for a little walk around the grounds.  Then I took her to the toilet and helped her brush her teeth.  I gave her a book to read when I left.
I got a ride from Alan.

Sunday 6 August 2017

Hot cocoa

Sunday, August 6, 2017
Beef and cheese macaroni casserole, mashed potato and gravy and assorted frozen veggies.  Banana cream pie for dessert.  Yum!
Mom liked her pie too.
I asked Jacquie about the concert yesterday. It was good, but she had left early because she had a karaoke date at the legion with her new boyfriend.
After dinner, took mom to the washroom.  She did a small poop.  I changed her underpants because she told me they were wet.  I changed her pants too because they smelled like pee.  I changed her top too because she was wearing a long-sleeved t-shirt.  She likes the new short-sleeved cotton peach-coloured shirt I bought her.
We read a little from the Japanese book.  The story about the Ants and the Grasshopper.  Mom's hair actually looks like it is being combed recently.  I wonder if it was because I told the nurse.
The nurse today knew where some of the lost and found items were, but we couldn't find my mom's stuff.
We played cards with the gang.  It was fun.
After cards, I gave everyone a small cup of water.  They pretended they were having white wine.
I showed Anna mom's photobook, but Anna was only interested in the baby pictures.
I was getting a ride from Alan so I had cocoa and cheese and crackers with the girls.  Mom said she didn't want hers so I ate half her cheese and cracker sandwich and half her hot cocoa.
Mom's front bottom teeth don't look so good.  None of the dentists have said anything.  I guess they must be okay.

Afternoon Concert

Saturday, August 6, 2017

There was a concert going on when I arrived.  Mom and Donna were there.  I went to mom's room, watered the plants, checked the laundry, checked her toothbrush and toothpaste, wiped the toilet seat, etc.  Barbara was sitting all by her lonesome so I asked her if she wanted to come and see the singer.  She didn't seem too enthused.  She said that she had just heard that her oldest grandchild was getting married.  She said she wasn't going to be involved.  I took her out to the dining room to see the singer.  She enjoyed the concert and seemed happy to be there.

The singer was singing "Let's do the twist" and one of the care aides was dancing so I danced too.  I grabbed onto mom's hands to dance, but she started giggling and wouldn't get up to dance.

After the concert, I told the gang we would play cards after coffee.  I gathered them all up.  I took mom to the washroom.  She did a little poop.

I checked in on Anna.  She said she would come to play cards, but not coffee.

Anna spilled her coffee as she was making her way to our table to play cards.  By the time I came back with paper towels, she was already wiping it up with a bib.  Luckily she didn't spill on Michael.  It was a close call.

We had a good time.

Friday 4 August 2017

Still no scissors

Friday, August 4, 2017
I arrived late because the 4:55 bus never showed up.  Luckily I was able to catch a bus at 5:09; however, that one was delayed because a walker had to be loaded.
Mom and the gang had already finished their meals.  It was ginger pork, rice, beans and jello.
Mom wanted to take a pee so I took her to the bathroom.  By the time I got her little step stool she had pooped a small ball and was already wiping her bum.  I put her back on the toilet with the step stool but no more came out.  She wasn't wearing any underpants.  She had probably discarded her soggy diaper at some point.  I changed her underpants and put on a clean pair of pants.
I sat her down for the horse races.  Mom won twice and so did Shanta.  Mom didn't want to eat her chocolate.
While mom was at the horse races I went to inquire about mom's scissors.  The nurse said she didn't know where the lost and found was.  The nurse who called me after I complained to the coordinator told me to ask a nurse on duty where the lost and found was.  In fact that nurse told me that Fraser Health had confiscated it.  I asked her why they didn't give them back to me.  That nurse just pissed me off.
After the horse races, mom, Donna and Anna tossed the balloon around.
Anna started crossing her eyes. Mom laughed so hard she started to choke.
I gave the girls some water to drink.
I took mom back for another pee and gave her, Joan and Barbara some cherries.  Donna was still trying to get back to the room.  I took mom for a little walk while Donna was in the toilet.  Mom really like the colourful flowers.
Then the girls sat and chatted for a bit by the nurses' station.

Tuesday 1 August 2017

Scissors and nail clippers are missing

Tuesday, August 1, 2017
Dinner was stuffed pork roast, mashed potatoes, zucchini, and cherry cobbler.  Edward had a hard time cutting up and eating his meat.  I offered to cut up his meat, but he declined my offer.  I cut some pieces anyways.  He may have eaten a few pieces.  He left dinner earlier than usual.  Usually, he's the last to leave.  He's awfully thin.
I took mom to the washroom.  She did a poop.  I changed her diaper and put her into regular underpants.  I cleaned her bum.  Mom and Donna were both dressed in long sleeves and today was really hot.  Donna said she was hot, but mom seemed okay.
I wanted to clip mom's bangs because they were getting long.  I  couldn't find mom's scissors and nail clippers or the bag they were in.  I reported it to the nurses' station, but I doubt that will lead to anything.
Tonight was card bingo. After bingo I took Shanta back to Alan and he offered me a ride home.  I tossed a balloon around with mom, Donna and Anna.  It was fun, but Donna said she was too hot.
Mandy asked us to sit at the nursing station so that she could keep an eye on Anna.
I mentioned to her that the scissors I used to cut mom's hair were missing.  She brought me a pair of scissors and helped me cut mom's hair for a bit.  She abandoned me at one point to help a resident, I hope.  Mom spilled some of the hair on herself.
Mandy seems really lazy.  I saw her sitting, talking on the phone, with her feet up on the sink.  Now, that is not sanitary.  She's on her phone a lot.  She's either talking or texting.
When I was changing mom's diaper, she took off.
I asked her once to have mom's top labeled.  I waited a long time for the top to come back.  I mentioned it to her.  Then, one day I saw it in the lost and found unlabeled.
Alan says there are too many staff and they are lazy.
He comes to see his mom 5 times a week and stays from lunch until past dinner.

Sunday 30 July 2017

Bento

Sunday, July 30, 2017
Mom had already eaten part of her dinner when I arrived with her bento.  Greek chicken, with rice and Greek salad. Boston cream cake.  Yum!  My favourite.  I took mom's dinner and gave her the bento that I bought from Fujiya.  There was inari sushi, futo maki, nimono, saba, etc.  Mom ate half of one inari sushi, a futo maki, some fish and all the nimono.  I gave her a small piece of kinako manju and a Yakult for dessert.  And a piece of orange.
After dinner we went for a little walk.  Mom admired the flowers.  We did some exercises.  I asked mom if she wanted to go to the bathroom.   We hurried to the washroom, but it was too late.
I changed mom's diaper.  She did some poop in the toilet so I had to wipe her bum.
We played cards with the gang.  Mom did not win a single game.  Shanta fell asleep during one game.
I gave all the ladies a small cup of water before I left.  I probably should have taken mom for one more pee.

Saturday 29 July 2017

Stayed later than usual

Saturday, July 29, 2017
Roast pork with mushroom gravy, mixed Italian beans, mashed potatoes and brownie for dessert.
Yum!  Orange sections.
Mom wasn't wearing underpants.  She peed herself and had removed her underwear and left them by the sink in the bathroom.  I dressed her and put her clothes in the laundry.
We played cards with the usual gang.
After cards we played with the balloon a bit.
Then I stayed for hot cocoa.  Shanta joined us.
Donna mentioned that she didn't have any more toothpaste so I mentioned it to the nurse.  He seemed confused so I asked him to contact Donna's sister.  In the meantime I gave Donna a little sample toothpaste that I had been keeping for such an occassion.
Alan went to clean his mom's teeth in salt and tumeric.
I didn't have time to watch mom brush her teeth because Barbara asked me to pull her pants off.  I just put toothpaste on mom's toothbrush and demoed what she was supposed to do.  I poured her a cup of water for rinsing.  I hope she did what she was supposed to do.
Luckily Larry showed up.  Barbara wasn't very happy.  She had pooped in her diaper.
After I got mom dressed in her nightie, I thought it would be a good idea to take her to the toilet.  Not only did she take a pee, but she did a poop as well.
I got a ride from Alan.  He said that some of the staff are lazy and just talk on the phone.  I thought it was their break time, but he said that they were supposed to take their breaks in the break room.

Orange chicken, rice and carrots.  Strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert.  Yum!
Jacquie said they had the inevitable accident where she and Edward slide the glass sugar container across the table.  Her coffee fell off the table.  I asked if my mom had said,"I told you so."
Mom was complaining about eating half a banana.  I peeled it and chopped it and gave her a few pieces.  She ate them.  I gave 3 pieces to Edward, but he only ate one piece.
After dinner, Donna had difficulty getting up from the table.  I told her to bend forward, but she kept saying her feet couldn't touch the ground.  Finally, I flagged Ming down and he helped her.
Mom did a poop!  I cleaned her bum and changed her underwear.  I reported to the nurse that mom did a poop, but she said that mom was regular now.  I should have told her mom said her bum hurt.
I took mom to play the balloon game where they hit the balloon with foam noodles.  Donna was in the toilet and taking a very long time, but she finally emerged.  Anna quickly grew tired of the game and left.  Bill wanted to play, but he isn't allowed.  I threw a balloon to him a few times and he was happy, but we had to stop because he was having difficulty breathing.  He was very grateful.
The care aide who was watching Anna said that Anna hadn't fallen back in the chair on Tuesday.  She said that Anna was sitting in William's lap and had slid off.  She said that Anna had had another bad fall after that.  She says Anna is wearing the wrong type of shoes so the family had taken away some of her shoes.
After the activity, I threw the balloon around with mom and Shanta and some other guy.  They were having a good time.  Shanta's eyes were lit up.  Mom became self-conscious and wondered why the others couldn't play.
When I was leaving I gave mom, Shanta, and Donna a hug.  Anna gave me a kiss on the cheek.  I thought Bill was going to high-5 me, but he kissed my hand.
