We had meatloaf for dinner. Very tasty. Mom ate most of her food. I slipped in two pieces of boiled pumpkin and although she protested at first, she ate them.
I arrived late, but her table was served late anyways. Mom had already drank all her milk and juice and was drinking tea.
After dinner, mom wanted to use the washroom, but Donna was taking a long time. I took her to the washroom in the room beside.
The volunteer was late for the horse races so I wrote down the participants' names beside the names of the horses they chose. George said he didn't like the horse races. I also moved the horses when their numbers came up. Mom was tickled that I was doing these things. Once the real volunteer showed up, I went to visit Uncle Tom.
Colleen was there. She said that he had just come back from the hospital. Something about his calcium levels being too low.
They were changing his bedding so I waited out in the hall.
They are just waiting for him to pass. He has cancer in his lymph nodes.
She says he doesn't have pain.
He forgets that he can't walk and falls out of bed.
They can't strap him into the bed so they put him in a wheelchair and watch over him at the front desk.
She said Derek's father-in-law collapsed at the restaurant and was taken to the hospital where he died of kidney failure.
He was moving his hands. I held onto one hand and found that he had a pretty good grip.
He seemed pretty out of it.
I left at 6:30 and was in time to see the last horse race. I took Shanta to her table in the fish tank room. Mom and Donna went back to their room because Donna had to use the washroom.
I sorted through mom's clothes.
I escorted mom and Donna to the fish tank room and we said our good-byes.
Mom looked really happy.
